Encopresis and Enuresis are disorders of the excretory system. They are involuntary release of feces or urine in children over 5. Enuresis is more common in females than males.  To be classified, the disorder must be of long duration…a couple of times a week for several months.

While these, in themselves, are not psychological disorders, the rejection and loss of self esteem they may bring can cause children distress.

Treatment usually is medical and also involves establishing a routine for the child.
